From the wine dabbler to the wine connoisseur, Le Grand Wine Tour is a day dedicated to meeting wine makers at their vineyards, discovering the technicalities of wine creation and sampling some of the finest wines produced in the Loire Valley.

A full and intensive day, Le Grand Wine Tour is spent in the company of Gérald and his vigneron friends at three reputed Loire Valley vineyards.  Not only will you discover all of the aspects of wine production, the technical methods used to produce the blanc, rosé, rouge and sparkling wines.  Learn how the different terroir, soils, and Loire Valley cépages, grape varieties, contribute to identify each Loire Valley AOC wine appellation but you will also have a rare insight into the very personal methods each wine maker applies to making his wines.

Throughout the day a minimum of seventeen different Val de Loire AOC wine appellations will be sampled.  Comprehensive explanations by Gérald throughout each dégustation, wine tasting, will allow you to recognise and note the individual identities of each wine; appreciate the subtle differences between the vintage years and understand the impact the terroir has on each AOC wine appellation.

Further enhancing the days wine tasting experience and hosted by Gérald is a three course ‘gourmand lunch’ at Bistrot Les Tontons, Gérald’s bar à vin located in the historical heart of Saumur.  Freshly prepared French cuisine is complimented by a selection of wines to create an enlightening food and wine pairing experience, un accord mets et vins.
